I just happened to be driving by and noticed it opened up early. I was going to stop in and grab some sandwiches. The line was only maybe 8 cars long. Then I saw a cop with the driveway coned off. They had stopped the line so it wouldn’ t block traffic and then restarted it in the mall parking lot. Holy crap, there must have been 50 cars in line. People are F’in crazy.

Edit: Chick-Fil-A didn’ t exist around here. While the rest of you were having p arking lot fights over the last fried chicken sandwich, all we could do was sit and wonder what you were fighting over.

Looks like a normal lunchtime at Chick Fil A around here. They’ve got their drive through system down to a science. It’s amazing how quickly they process cars.

Went to a Chic-f il-a during lunch once. Do not understand. So many people waiting so long for such mediocre food. Maybe it is like In and Out, the legend far exceeds the actual content . (Nothing against In and Out. Good food. Not worth going out of my way for.)

. . . crazy for Chic-Fil-A! Can you blame them? This unique situation also takes away my strategy for walking inside (the horror) to avoid a line.

Chic-Fil-A is a very regional chain for sure, but I didn’t know you were located within its sphere of influence . It might require some explaining to people not in the know. While I’m at it, Oppo really should know about Z axby’s too.

Are they new in your location or something? I cant drive more than a few miles without seeing one. But I live I Atlanta, so it would be strange not to see one.

There’s about 4 of them within a mile of each other in some places.

Do you not have any good local restaurants? Most of our local joints are doing take out for 20-30% off. I couldn’t imagine waiting in line for fast food right now. Kind of defeats the purpose when you can get quality food for almost the same price, quicker, from a place that actually gives a shit about your community.

Turns out they have expanded a lot more than I thought. Old Truett would be proud. Fortunately I live in the area of Georgia almost entirely colored red. But I’m surprised that California has such a large spread.

EDIT: Turns out even the more regional Zaxby’s is more spread out than I thought. I guess I’m living in a past of much less globalization. Funny how the same areas with Chic Fil As also have Zaxby’s.

In-n-Out, at least here, pays it’s employees well above minimum wage. Worth going out of my way for if I’m going to eat fast food. It’s dirt cheap so I’m not expecting much quality wise when I go there.

Yeah, it’s funny how much of a crowd they draw when they open.

the one in Santa Barbara STILL is creating controversy, since the line will back up onto the street, into the flow of traffic, and down through the nearest traffic light.

They already hate drive-throughs here, and CFA ain’t helping.

On the other hand, with so many restaurants completely closed it sorta sucks that even McD’s and the fast food places never were allowed to have drive-throughs. Everybody’s feeling the pinch.

That is fair. Last time I was in Vegas I got kidnapped for an In and Out run that took like two fucking hours, so that soured my memory somewhat. But yeah if there is one close and I am hungry I’d totally do it.

Yeah, it’s not worth waiting for at all IMO. But it’s worth trying once the insanity dies down.

Something to consider: nothing has condiments and their policy states they won’t put condiments on for you. So if you like mayonnaise on your sandwich (I do) then ask for mayonnaise packets.

There’ s a drive through location near the new Braves stadium. Back when I had my C5Z, I had to get out of my car and add mayo and prepare my sandwich on the rear deck lid because I didnt have enough room inside my car to do everything (wheel was in the way). The person taking my order refused to add i t to the sandwich and said it was a sani tary issue. LOL

The one in my town opened ~5 years ago, and the traffic around it is still stupid. Hilarious siting - small lot on a major intersection at a highway interchange, so traffic backs up onto the street most of the day. Either typical “good enough for government work” competence approved the plans, or someone received a bribe.

Zaxby’s has great high wuality a food. It’s a little pricey and my gluten allergy precludes most of the menu, but it is not as traditionally fast food as most of the others. And they have some good sweet tea.

The thing people don’t understand is not that it’s the most amazing burger ever, but the best/healthiest one at the price point. They’re in the McDs portion of the market on price with a product that nothing in that price range can touch, in addition to treating their employees well.

People love to compare them to Five Guys, which is 2-3x as expensive for a comparable burger.

Never seen a Zaxby’s... CFA has been pretty widespread in CA for at least 10- 15 years now.

The first one up here after the last one closed was a big deal. There are three in the metro area now, but they’re still packed.

My method has always been to walk in. I have only been through a CFA drive-through once and it was at a time when there was nobody in line. The lines at the ones up here can stretch into the street and around the corner.

Or someone didn’t realize how popular it would be. I’ve always wondered about how that one got approved. Even when they’re in spots with large connected parking lots around here, the line can get pretty ridiculous. That one is the only one that consistently has people blocking traffic in the street that I’m aware of.

Humorous aside: My childhood home is ~6 miles from their headquarters and we had like 6-7 of them, including the original, within a short drive from our house, so we ate at quite a few of them in that area when I was a kid. In my experience, the rougher the neighborhood, the better the food from one.

Well Chic Fil A also doesn’t put a map of all their locations at the entrance like Zaxby’s does. Chic Fil A has a very thorough procedure to move along their drive through, because that’s where most of their business comes, and the demand still usually exceeds capacity for those lines to form.

yeah... crazy hype. We had one open in our area several years ago and there were lines around the block for months. After it died down I tried it with a buddy from work just to see what all the hub bub was about - and I honestly was disappointed, I didn’t think it was very good... But I can see maybe there is a nostalgia thing, or if you really like their politics or something...

I can’t see how anyone would miss that - there was so much hype about C-F-A locating here, and 10 years ago there was a serious dearth of marginally better fast food that anyone with logic could see the demand was huge. Of course, that might not count those who approve property development, who always mess up things like traffic and parking.

I am referring to the C-F-A in Bellevue at NE 8th and 116th, for reference. For the first year or so, there was even a cop directing traffic - I hope the franchisee paid his wage rather than the city, but that might be considered an onerous tax or another braindead talking point.

Congrats. Best fast food chicken sandwich by far, and better than many sit down casual places. My favorite is the spicy chicken deluxe. The waffle fries, on the other hand, are only okay. If they put that chicken and McDonald’s fries together, it would be fast food perfection.

The chicken is fine. Fries are meh. They do have good salads. Also, the service is generally outstanding. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an employee there seem down or surly or anything.

It’s hard to reconcile with their far right views, though. I still go now and then, but it’s not my main spot for sure.

Frankly not worth the wait. I’ve had chick -fil-a just a couple of times since moving to Texas, and do not get the hype. Twice was enough to know I didn’t need to give it more chances. You can find a better chicken sandwich at pretty much any fastfood place.

The local one here always has a line around lunch hour, blocking the parking lot. The first time I encountered it, I didn’t know what was happening. I was supposed to be at a meeting at a place on the other end of the parking lot, and had to get out of my car and tell people to stop blocking the lane. Too lazy to park and go in (there wasn’t a line inside) . But that’s Texans for you. Incredible how devoted some people are to the brand given it tastes like school cafeteria food.
